How Tango Card’s Employee Experience Team Is Adapting to COVID-19

2020 brought challenges no human resources team could anticipate. Tango Card—like many fast-growing companies that relied on open-office camaraderie to support product and personnel growth—was forced to change.
When the impact of COVID-19 became obvious, our Employee Experience and Leadership teams immediately flagged employee health as a top priority. In early March, we encouraged all Tango Card employees—also known as Tangocardians—to work from home (WFH).
With this shift to an almost completely remote workforce, we’ve implemented various response plans and programs to help employees adapt to workplace changes.
To effectively support remote teams, we provide employees with the necessary equipment—monitors, laptops, and peripherals, for example—to be successful working from home.
We also offer employees a $500 Reward Link that provides a selection of e-gift cards, including Amazon, Office Depot, and Staples. These e-gift cards can be used to improve or create WFH spaces as employees see fit.
Looking ahead, we’ve launched our Choice First program, which allows the majority of employees to choose which office they work from—including home offices.
To care for the mental and physical health of employees during COVID-19, we partnered with Wellness Concepts to provide employees with free and confidential virtual wellness coaching. In addition, we joined forces with ClassPass to provide a free option for employees to stay active at home with pre-recorded and live fitness classes.
At Tango Card, we understand our team members want to stay stimulated and grow professionally during this time. To support professional development, we partnered with Udemy for Business, opening its professional course catalog to Tangocardians interested in developing new skills.
Paid Time Off
We continue to encourage employees to use Tango Card’s unlimited paid time off (PTO) to stay recharged and prevent burnout.
To support the dynamic schedules of employees and to encourage community involvement, we’ve added a specific time-off option for community good. This option promotes employees using PTO for volunteer work or participation in marches and demonstrations.
Our PTO plan also includes options for vacation, sick time, paid military leave, jury duty, and Washington State’s Paid Family and Medical Leave, which we provide to all employees regardless of state residency.
What’s Next for Tango Card
While the lingering impact of 2020’s pandemic is far from over, the Tango Card Employee Experience team is ready to adapt to any challenge while ensuring safety, productivity, and an optimal work experience for our employees.
